The only form of diabetes that can be controled without insulin is type 2, with type 1 your body does not produce enough insulin. If you suffer from type 2 diabetes, try the South Beach Diet, or research the ADA diet, drink at least 3 liters of water per day and get at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise every day, a nise brisk walk is good enough.

There was a doctor (medical) on T.V. that advocated the use of cinnamon.

In his book, A Promise Made, A Promise Kept, Dr. Chappell refers to the Lucky 7, six herbs and one mineral that he states will "cure" diabetes. He states that because he uses the word "cure" he cannot sell the formula… The FDA would charge him with some sort of crime.

No. Eating the right combinations of fresh fruit and vegetables. Stay away from all sugar but natural. Carbohydrates, and by trial and error the foods that do elevate your b/s. Many people can eat things that do not bother others. Get with a highly recommended diabetic educator and watch the diet you will get

5-HTP, SaMe, St. John's Wort Also there are other things that you can do to help. I have a book on dealing with depession naturally and it speaks of aroma therapy, hot and cold therapy, massage therapy, and things like that. Maybe you could find such a book and that would be helpful to you as well.

Arctic root comes highly recommended (health food stores or online) & St.John’s Wort is popular, but can affect other medications: always tell your health care providers what supplements & herbal remedies you are taking. Also take a vitamin B complex, and 4 fish oil supplements, daily. See http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 2: depression. Exercise, relaxation methods, affirmations, positive thinking, etc., are all part of a multi-pronged approach: persist!

Anybody who is recommending herbs, chants, or crystals is an idiot.

I just had prostate cancer – the treatment depends on the age of the patient. Here’s what I learned:

In old folks, they give them hormonal shots to slow the tumor (the thought being that surgery will make their life worse, and they will die of something else before the slow cancer gets them)

For older folks 60-70’s or so who may not tolerate surgery, they use radiation, either seeds or beam. This cures the cancer, at least for awhile. Be aware of the side effects – burns, etc. Also be aware of the incidence of recurrence – there’s a lot of data out there!

I had mine removed (I’m 55). The latest in surgery is the DiVinci robot – no large incision, and I was discharged 36 hours after surgery and fully recovered after 4 weeks, other than retraining my plumbing. The robot surgery spares the critical nerves for "man land", it just numbs them for a bit.

My cancer was completely confined to the gland, so the incidence of this coming back is slim indeed. Your PA friend should find an experience urologist who can guide him. I consulted several to ensure the accuracy of the information

The only thing effective in controlling diabetes is diet.

What I mean by that is, if you don’t control your diet, but take medications, you will rapidly develop the damage and disease associated with type 2 diabetes including sudden death (you’ve been warned).

Only diet is effective. You must monitor, you must eat correctly or you will die, sooner rather than later. Medications can help, but your success is strictly dependent on how rigidly you follow the program laid out by your doctor. Nothing else works. Fortunately, diet is extremely effective in controllng diabetes and preventing disease, even if your diabetes is advanced.

Do it or die….that’s the bottom line. It’s your choice.
